Best Outdoor Flameless Candles

Best Outdoor Flameless CandlesI like the look of candles, but the aspect of fire makes me shudder, so I don't use candles all that much. They have great purposes, though, I must admit.

Like when the power goes out, or when you are sitting outside and want a little light or to chase the bugs away, but still, I gave away all the candles some years ago when a family member accidentally left them burning when she went out.

Disaster was adverted, but I couldn't help but think about what might have been. That was it for me until I saw a commercial for candles that didn't really burn. They needed no fire.

As I started searching around for the best outdoor flameless candles, I was surprised to see that there was a nice selection. I am sure you would want to know about them, as well, so I have compiled my top five best list.

When I was choosing the items for my list, I thought about how pretty they were and also if they were functional. Would they work in the space I needed them for? Also, how easy were they for others to use?

Reviews meant something, too. Did previous buyers have problems with quality and did they really work as advertised?

Lastly, there were a few occasions where I specifically wanted the candles to decorate things. One was for Christmas, another was Halloween, and then there was the garden area of the backyard.

What I liked about this first set was the fact that they say they are waterproof. I didn't want the mechanisms getting ruined in the rain and humidity, so these ones seem to fit that bill. No doubt after long use, the batteries might rust, but by then, I might want something new anyway!

With these candles being 6" tall and 3" wide, they are quite chunky. I like that because there is substance for outside use. You could put them around the pool area, in a gazebo, on the patio, or even down the steps for safer walking. With the handy remote, if anyone came to visit, I could quickly turn on the lights to guide the visitors up the stairs. Then, when they left, turn the lights off.

The other thing I liked was the scalloped tops. Pretty to look at and a little spooky if using for Halloween!

Made of resin, they are not supposed to break, chip or melt.

These are definitely for a specific purpose such as using to dress the table for an outdoor wedding. They are elegant and because they resemble bees wax honeycomb candles, they are perfect in the middle of a table. You could even make a flower centerpiece and use them right in the decoration to make it more spectacular.

Completely safe and fully compliant, they use AA size batteries, and they come with a timer so that you can program them to turn on and off. This is perfect for effect at a party. Just imagine how gorgeous it will be when all the candles come on at once in the dark.

The manufacturer says they are made of real wax, but that they do not melt or drip, and they cannot be shaved like wax candles to fit into odd shaped containers.

Extra Large Flameless Candles with Remote

This set is really neat because it is made with wax that doesn't smell, burn or melt because there is no wick.

Not only are the items large in size, but the package contains nine of different sizes to meet your needs. It also includes a ten-key remote control, as well as a timer. That makes this set quite functional and easy to use. Of course, it also has a manual to help you set up the timing of the off and on.

But the remote control is a great idea for turning all of them on at once. It creates drama for an event and is much easier than going to each candle and switching it on. I was also thinking that if you had placed the candles around in plants or fabric, you wouldn't want to disturb the decorations and mess them up, so having the remote is the perfect solution.

Orange Battery Operated Candles

Some people call these little ones tealight candles or votives. They are probably the most popular due to their versatility. They can be used at Christmas, Fourth of July, Halloween, for parties, around the pool or patio, on tables, and even made into special designs or shapes to create a lovely centerpiece.

Although there were sets with a lot more in the package, I choose this one because of its real orange color. My thought was to use them for Thanksgiving decorating for a special dinner we were having. When you see this color, you think of changing leaves, Autumn crisp air, and bountiful food such as apples, squashes, pears, and parsnips.

In a set of twelve, they have a realistic flickering flame, and a built in timer. Batteries can be swapped out when needed.

One thing I learned while doing my research was that not all the units flicker. They are still lovely, to be sure, but they weren't made to have the same dramatic effect as a real candle with a fire flame. But, there are models that do exactly that.

And this set seems to do what everyone loves. That's watching the movement of the flame. Using AA batteries, this is a gorgeous package that includes five pillar candles one each in four, five, six, seven and eight inch heights.

They are energy saving LEDs and I can see myself using them with one of those fancy Christmas rings around the base. To be honest, there are many craft projects anyone could do starting with this lovely ensemble.

What a beautiful scene this would be for Santa using your tea light battery operated candles. Add his favorite cookies, a glass of milk, and leave the area illuminated for him to see his waiting snack. Needless to say, you can go to bed and fast asleep knowing that the candles are completely safe.

PS - Yes, I know the picture has real candles, but they should be swapped out for the new technology!
